I’d love to book a session, now what??
We’ll find a time either by phone or via email to talk a little about what kind of session you’re looking for and come up with a pretty good idea of date/time/location that will work for both of us. Then, you’ll “officially” reserve your session (and lock-in your date!) by paying your session fee HERE or by mailing a check. Once your session has been reserved, you’ll be given a password for a client-only area of my website where you’ll find detailed session information, a guide to help you pick clothing for your session, and much more.
Where will our session be held?
We can meet anywhere within reason! Some venues have rules and policies about professional photography, so please inquire first. I have several locations that I love, but I’m always open to suggestions and new ideas. I also love shooting in your home, where everyone is comfortable, and I can tell the stories of your family as you are right now. Once your session is booked, you can tell me about the kind of feel you want for your images, or let me know which images you are drawn to on my blog. That will help determine the best location for your session. Newborn sessions are always done in the comfort of your own home.
When should we plan for our maternity session? When is the best time to do pregnancy photos?
The 3rd trimester is the best time. 32-36 weeks is a good range. You want to “look” pregnant, but not feel fat and bloated and all of those other things that happen towards the very end!
How do I schedule a newborn photo session when I don’t know when he/she will be born?
Good question! Just give me your estimated due date and I’ll make note of it on my schedule. When your baby finally arrives, contact me as soon as possible and we’ll set a specific date. I ask that newborn sessions be held within 10 days of birth — trust me…that is when you’re going to get the most cooperation from your baby, and the squishy, yummy, fresh “look” that you want. I will always try to squeeze in a newborn session, so don’t forget to contact me before and then again as soon as the stork appears!
What should I/we wear to our session? How do I pick the right clothing?
When you book your session, I will direct you to my online “What to Wear” guide. After looking it over, if you still need help, just give me a call and we can discuss details.
What about digital files?
I am happy to offer your digital negatives for purchase! They are available in a special discounted digital collections and also a la carte. With these files, I will provide a professional print release, printing/cropping instructions and my personal printer recommendations for you. You’ll be receiving the fully retouched, ready-to-print, high resolution digital negatives from me, so you’ll be able to print images at whatever sizes you’d like.
Do you offer holiday cards or birth announcements?
Yes! I do create custom cards and announcements for clients. My products are created “from scratch”, and printed on professional quality material from professional labs who do not serve the general public. But, of course, if you decide to purchase your digital negatives, you are free to create your own cards and announcements as well.
Do you shoot weddings?
Yes! I love shooting weddings, and I have recently teamed up with http://www.truephotographyweddings.com/. I also shoot events (think baptisms, parties, small weddings) on a hourly basis. If you’re interested in any of these services, please contact me for a custom quote.
