A bug festival!

So, Delaney is seriously IN LOVE with all things buggy.  She spends time outside catching pillbugs, spiders, and countless other creepy crawlies.  We have a collection of crickets on our kitchen counter as I type.  So, when I told her about a local Bug Fair, she was just as excited as if I had said we were going to spend the day in the pool eating nothing but candy.  The Quail Botanical Gardens are in Encinitas, but I’ve never been there.  What a terrible Native San Diegan I am!  Well, we all got to see, hold and TASTE our fill of bugs.  Dave and I ate garlic salted mealworms, and Katelyn was brave enough to ate a fried cricket!  Delaney gets the award for holding the grossest bug – an enormous cockroach.  I hope to God that I never see one of these in my house…

OMG…..I think I would starve rather than eat a bug. Great protein I guess. Looks like there are so many things to do in town we never even knew about. How cool you are venturing out.

Hey Kim. Gorgeous shots, as always. Katelyn is rocking the 80′s retro; I love it. I never knew about this place either. I will have to check it out next I am in town with the kids. xoxo
